In a growing age of technology, it’s increasingly important that educators try to incorporate more technology into the everyday classroom. Students will need to have a plethora of skills related to technology as they further their education past high school and begin looking for careers. An easy way to begin diving into technology in the classroom is by creating blogs for students!
Benefits of blogging include:
* Students feel more freedom when responding via computer
* Students have a sense of ownership over their own text, as it is a new and exciting form of writing for them.
* Students are more apt to take risks and go out on a limb while responding via blog than if they were speaking in front of the entire class.
*Parents can become active participants in their child’s learning by viewing the blog from home.
*All student ability levels are working together in order to deepen and expand their learning.
There are many resources online to help aid in creating blogs in classrooms. Ideas range from free journal entries, to responses on daily learning, to posts about new facts/ ideas students have to share. All are ways that students can deepen their understanding of concepts in an innovative way!
